Nice!

This means you don’t have to own a Kindle Fire to watch Amazon Instant Video movies and TV shows on a tablet — or use Netflix or the iTunes Store to watch studio fare on an iPad. Amazon says that its new app enables iPad users to buy or rent more than 120,000 movies and TV episodes. They’ll have to make the transactions separately, though. (Remember that Apple collects about 30% from the transactions on its platform.) But people who pay $79 a year to become Amazon Prime members can access more than 20,000 titles without an additional charge. The new app will handle Amazon’s Whispersync, so people who stop a video in the middle on one device can turn to another device and pick up where they left off.

I am slow on the uptake with Amazon instant. Is there a reason to use this over my current Zune Video/Itunes/Neflix combo? Is there more selection or better options?

Zune Video/iTunes/Netflix doesn't give me free 2 day shipping from Amazon.

I wouldn't spend money on amz instant, but I'll gladly spend $79/year for amazon prime + amazon instant.

It's always interesting to see competitors creating apps for the iOS App Store yet Apple hasn't created apps for competitors' app stores.

Interesting. Does it have free content like Neflix? Does it compare at all?

Pretty decent selection, lots of TV shows, movie selection is def weaker IMHO.

Cheaper than iTunes though - very, very good .99/1.99 movie rentals.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get Amazon Instant, but it makes Amazon Prime a much easier buying decision

Bah... Only audio will go through air play to a Apple TV2. May change as the app is further developed.
