Yesterday I set up a staples account for a friend and helped him order the Epson 820 printer for $149 with a $50 MIR. I then tried to apply a $30 off $150 coupon code (one that I personally have never used before) and it was not accepted. I then tried to use others that have been listed both here and at FatW*llet. None of them were accepted either. I then logged on using my account to see if the problem was simply related to a new account. I also tried using a variety of $10 and $20 off also to no avail.
As I am definitely not an abuser of the forums coupon codes, and considering that I first tried to apply them to a new account, leads me to believe that Staples is now denying ALL online coupon codes.
I also noticed that at the bottom of the "Apply Coupons" page was a new (?) disclaimer that Staples reserves the right to refuse illegal coupons or cancel orders placed with these coupon codes. It also said that if one felt that the coupon was valid they could call Staples customer service and try to convince them that they received the code legitimately.
Is this the end of the Staples coupon code ride? Looks like it.
