FYI: A good program for data recovery is R-Studio.

Last week I did something really stupid. I accidentally formatted the hard disk with my Master's Thesis and a whole bunch of other stuff on it. The disk was originally FAT32, and I reformatted it with NTFS. After I realized my mistake, I was pretty certain that I would either lose all of my data or have to pay a pretty penny to a recovery service. After doing a search on Yahoo!, I found R-Studio. I downloaded the demo version (which recovers files smaller than 64k and lets you know what files can be recovered with the premium version). Anyway, I spent $49.99 for the R-Studio FAT version and was quite pleased with the results. Out of 3,012 files, I was able to recover 2,998. Luckily, I had copies of the 14 files that I was not able to recover. Anyway, I just wanted to let AT users know about this software.

Another vote for R-Studio. I've used the NTFS version to recover data for some clients after they have reformatted the drive TWICE! I am like the computer God to them now. 😀
