Trinity and richland in the end made no sense to me after checking out reviews as it seems the quads like the 5600k which was in my budget perform worst then the i3 2000 series and better.

The 5600K can OC to A10-6800K levels with default cooler. At 4.2GHz Trinity is much better than Core i3 3220, not to mention you get better graphics. The only plus for the Core i3 is that you can install a Core i7 later on.

edit: not to mention that Haswell core i3 will be released next month(September).

Mostly decided on the i3 cause i do have a i5 2500 non k,but honestly not sure if its fried as i mentioned in another post on this thread that my old 7850,my old h61 board and ram took a crap due to some electrical problems and the i5 could be toast as well.

My wife already is allowing me to drop in a i5 3470 non k in a month or two if the i5 2500 i have is fried,if the i5 2500 isn't toast, the i3 3220 will be the focus of a upcoming build for my wife and if the i5 2500 is toast, the i3 3220 will hold me over till i could drop in a i5 3470.

If i didn't have that i5 sitting around,i think i would have went 5600k no questions asked.:)

The fx6300 would have been awesome but basically wouldn't have worked, get stuck with a microatx board with a ancient chipset as my case is microatx and a decent full atx motherboard and a case would have went out of my budget by over $50 at least.

There are mATX motherboard with 970/990 chipset and all features u want too.

Got the new stuff today, core i3 3220 was not that bad of a chip but luckily my i5 2500 non k ended up being still in working order.

Will prob pick up a better motherboard with sata 6,usb 3.0 down the road and then put my h61 and i3 3220 into my wifes upcoming build.:)

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.

Sounds good.

Hey do you have a Microcenter nearby? Z77 boards are starting to dry up, but they have some amazing open-box deals right now at the one near me. I've bought maybe a dozen or so over the past couple of years, and every single one has been perfect. Just got one for a buddy's 3770K the other day, was $82 for an Asus P8Z77-V (awesome board, still $195 at Newegg). Plugged it in, fired it up, outstanding!

No Microcenter here,Z77 might be a bit rich for a i5 2500 non k that can never be overclocked but actually looking for a similar chipset that offers sata 6,usb 3.0 while being microatx as my current case is such as well as the rosewill line-m i will be ordering soon.

H77 maybe?Who knows with like the 10 different chipsets based on 1155 right now.

you can overclock the non K 2500 by 400-500MHz+

that means around 3.8GHz+ instead of 3.3-3.4 if you go with Z77/z68/p67/z75

That is pretty awesome,my current board allows up to 3.4 when the cpu is fully loaded, thanks for the info.

A look on newegg does suggest Z75 isn't cost effective to manufacture or sell, there is a slim picking of boards with a inventory of 3 none being microatx, while Z77 is fruitful with plenty of microatx boards so looks like Z77 for me.
