X2 means dual core. As such the 3800 is a single core, the 3800X2 is a dual core.

Intel sucks because the CPU design they are using isn't very good.

You can record TV on your PC using a TV card, they come in different types and price ranges, but it's rather easy to do.

You can always increase the level of eyecandy in your games, it's a user desicion as to how many fps you need and how much eyecandy you're willing to sacrifice for the increased fps.
 
basically any a64 with a x1900xt will be better than a fx60 & 7800gt. for gaming put the bulk of the $$$ into the gpu like others have said. if you want to go dc, get a 3800 or opty165, both of which you could get 2.4-2.5GHz on nearly guaranteed and they will run you ~$310. for the prices of the fx60 you could get the x1900xt and a x3200 or opteron165.
