fx5700 personal cinema?

so i was checking out new egg and came upon this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133143

is it a decent card? keep in mind im upgrading from a 64mb mx4400. I like the tv tuner and dvr functions, plus it looks like the memory is decent. Im not huge into gaming. i cant even remember the last computer game i bought (seriously, i think the last one was like return to castle wolfenstien). I want to be able to play some current games, but dont need max resolution/settings on everything.

Can't offer any insight on high definition; not that far along here (tight budget). However, the 5700 nu was more or less the middle ground of nVidia's fifth series gpu's. Some will have said it took the 5700-U to get that far. I've used a 5700, and it wasn't quite as good as the Radeon 9700 of its time frame, although "close". The biggest drawback to the entire FX video generation was the poor implementation of Dx9.

😉

You're better off finding a AIW9800 or something like that. Peformance is going to be far superior, plus ATi has a bit more experience with the TV tuner card thingy...

the difference is that the ati card is nearly $100 more. My sister is using my computer ( i have a laptop at home) until I buy/rent a larger home. I dont really want to sink a lot of money into this computer if i dont have to. Here are my goals:

build the current computer into a decent HTPC (note the word decent, doesnt need to be extreme).

be able to play newer games (even if not on maximum settings)

thats it, i mean if you can suggest a better ATI (or even Nvidia) card for around the price of this one im all ears. basically i want to know whether this card will meet my needs. im totally open to suggestion as long as the price is right and meets my needs.

I'd rather have a 9600xt AIW. It should be roughly as fast in DX8(maybe a tad slower), but the FX's suffer in DX9 games. In half life 2, the 9600xt beats the 5950xt. And who wants a card that can play old games faster?
