I am building a new CAD/Simulation/Gaming (Little, not much) Workstation and trying to figure out the best bet for the Video card? Suggestions I have gotten are FX560, V3400, and 7600GT. I do 3D and 2D CAD as well as other general tasks. I play games a ittle, but nothing major. Also Watch DVD on the system? What advise is out there for this system? Let me know your thoughts. Will be using PCIe 16X Slot on AMD X2 board. Thanks!

I know the Quadro 3500 rocks, I have been benching it here at work in a Dell Precision 390. I believe it is a 7900GT Quadro. In any event, its fast , very very fast.

True 'dat. But at $800-$900 it's probably a little more than he's looking for. How about some comparisons between the entry-level workstation cards and the gaming card.

My vote goes for the Quadro FX 560.

i'd say 7600GT or even the 7900GS that just got released today. it'll run everything you mentioned just fine.

Well, he needs a quadro or Fire card if he is truly doing the CAD/ProE type of thing. In that case, the fx560 looks ok too. Look on nvidia's website, they have a brief running down all the Quadros. I recommend the FX1500 if you can find it...

The FX 1500 PVE is the one I just got from Monarch. The PVE (Profesional Video Editing) has the HD break-out box for a video monitor.

By the way, Monarch's prebuilt and custom series workstations are a good place to see what what parts go into a workstation. Then buy the parts cheaper somewhere else...

Based on Price, the FX560 looks good, can some one give me a basic break down of the differences on a Quadro vs say 7600GT? I understand one is for CAD and one is for gaming, but a quick summary of what causes them to be clasified that way would save me a lot of internet searching. Thanks!
