FX51 = Opteron 148? Or does it?

Does anyone know for sure whether there is any difference between these two chips.

Also as a side note is there a way to mod either of them to gain multi processor ability.

The FX-51 core is the same as the Opteron 148 , with the exception that the Opt 148 is validated for full ECC operation, and the FX-51 is not. (The FX-51 can do ECC, but it isn't 'validated' to do so.

I believe the MP capabilities in the FX and the Opt 1xx series is cut in the actual die itself, and there is no way to enable it using the external pins.

AFAIK, only the Opteron 24x can be used in dual mode, Opteron 44x in quad mode, Opteron 84x in 8-way mode. Opteron 14x can only run in single processor mode.

Since the FX-51 is almost equivalent to the Opteron 14x, it can only be run in single mode.
