fx-9370 at newegg

compared to the 8350 you got, 10% higher clock, 100W higher TDP, no cooler and $150 more expensive, 30 days instead of 3 years of warranty...

sounds like a "great" deal.

And you are forced to buy a combo deal worth atleast 860$. And warranty is 30 days.

^^ Where does it say he has an 8350? Not seeing it in his sig...

If you have at least $861 burning a hole in your a/c, dislike Intel and logical thinking, and live in Siberia... sure, go for it.

I'd just get an 8350 or 8320 and overclock it, though, if I had to. Unlikely that I'd fully appreciate the gain in clockspeed, but I'd certainly notice how much thinner my wallet just became.

probably my mistake

but, I'd just get an i5 or i7... stock Haswell is faster and cheaper than the overclocked FX for my use :|

Amazon are cheaper:

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-Series-...ds=AMD+FX-9370

No need to get a motherboard with it too!! 😛

The OP has a asus m5a97 - which version do you have?? If its the EVO is has the same VRM section as the Asus 990X motherboards(can supply upto 220W). So if you are looking for a change, one of the cheaper FX CPUs would make more sense.

However, for gaming perhaps getting a better graphics card would be the first step.

OTH,the OP already has a Core i5 3570K anyway with a GTX660,so probably they are looking just to update one of their systems.

Can't give you feedback on that chip.

I like the 8320 that's over in my "work corner" just fine...

The price on this just seems a bit much...

The Newegg.com combo pack are basic for new system build, the cheapest way to get the CPU is order it with the antivirus program combo deal, because that how I had to make the order myself. Since I had order a CPU water cooler, they will used CPU and a CPU water cooler as combo deal, instead of using antivirus program, because that how they set up my order.

If it is in stock. One already ordered the 9590 and it was listed as in stock. However it was not and no ETA for delivery.

I was originally told up to four to eight weeks, but now I'm told I'll get a real ETA when they get it from their AMD rep. On the phone the seller told me he doesn't think it'll take that long, but he cannot say for sure until he speaks to his AMD contact.

In the mean time I have a new motherboard and ram taunting me. I might put it together just to stick my PhII in it for the time being. 🙂 Actually, now that I think about it I probably should do that to get the bios up to date and get things up and running, making the FX a simple drop in. It is a beautiful Saturday... fishing or hardware upgrades? I wish more of life's 'hard' choices were like this. 😀

Might not be a bad idea. Then you can see the improvement from the cpu replacement alone.

the amazon deal looks best...i did not know newegg was a combo until i dug a bit deeper....i also have read water cooling is advised, due to the high clock....i had the corsair 100i witch should work nicely..not sure if i am going to pull the trigger or not, wish i can see some benchmarks

The 9590 has the exact same combo though.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...106.19-113-347

$919 is a long way off from the $1605 shintaidk claimed.

When I checked newegg all I saw was the same $1605 deal that shintaidk posted about.

When I went there I was shown an advertisement that left me with the impression that there are two combo deals, one for the 9370 and one for the 9590.

So its not like he made it up.

That there are ways to make that combo deal lower is good news but at first glance Newegg does not make it obvious that this can be done.

Not to mention 'combo' historically means :

CPU + Mobo

No sane human being believes that CPU + Norton is a legit 'combo' deal. You don't even get a heatsink, lol.
