that's all the original FX 6300 needed (high clock) ... minus the 125 Watts rating

AMD must have noticed how well the 6300 was received by enthusiasts

With 6350 they don't need to OC it any more as clock is upped by decent margin :) (they can of course).

If it is a 125W TDP it will come with the copper based Heat-Sink, then 4.2GHz is easily achieved.

The FX6300 turbos to 4.1 already. Not sure if the 6350 has turbo or not. It actually looks like 3.9 with no turbo. Not sure how much gain that would really give, if there is in fact no turbo for the 6350.

I will give them credit for pushing the performance envelope though, something Intel seems reluctant to do anymore.

Turbo is 4.2. But with the TDP raised it will probably go into turbo mode more often and longer than the 6300.

Assuming they're not crappy bins, that really isn't bad. Not so great for those in areas with pricey electricity, but fine for most of the U.S.. It's not going to save AMD's finances, but it at least offers budget users some more options, while other components creep up in cost (2-3 months ago, I built a complete gaming box w/ an i5-3570 for $800 incl. s&h & OS, FI...that's tough, today).

Why would they? I'm sure they could pull another 3-400MHz out of their hats, and they could surely unlock some lesser CPUs...but people pay for the i5 and i7 K models as it is. It would mostly serve to reduce their margins, which they only like to do when they lose sales due to high prices.

I suppose you have a point. For the 6300 you get maybe 10 to 15 percent more performance for 30% increase in TDP. I suppose it is a point of diminishing returns, but it would be nice if the option was there, maybe some sort of higher clocked, higher tdp enthusiast chip, but for a mainstream price.

If they could get a SKU like this down to a 95W (even AMD FX style) TDP it would be tempting.

There the FX8300 , 200Mhz lower base frequency than 8320 but
also 200Mhz higher turbo , curiously , as high as the 8350 , TDP
being 95W.

i just priced up a PC with the 6300 and a 7950 GPU and 250GB SSD for £600 all in! What a bargain!

picked up a Crosshair V Formula Z board locally a few days ago for cheap-ish. i think i may pull the trigger on a FX-6350 unless I find a good reason to go with 2 more cores for an extra $60 or so. eight cores seems a bit much for what I need my systems for. but then again so does six :p

One of the etailers usually has a lower price.
Superbiz 155.00 for the 8320 :http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?...FYPd4AodmmoAcw
