I cant believe how expensive those FX-60's are. That coupled with the Raptor and A8N32 tells me you went all out. Nice job! Im just jealous...

Since you're dropping an obscene amount of cash you may as well get an X-Fi Elite Pro and a 3007. XFire 1900's would be nice too.

It's nice thinking I saved $1k with my 165 and it can run faster than the FX-60.

thanks all for ur comments -

a couple of replies:

- believe it or not i'm building this for work more than play, so my GPU will "only" be a $175 refurb 6800GT. my job (photo stuff) benefits from fast everything, but mostly 2D graphics.

- the 24" 6ms monitor was also a refurb - a steal at NewEgg for $700. no dead pixels.

- the only reason I built myself was to save money and specify the quietest parts possible since I have to listen to it all day.

- didn't want to overclock because if the day comes i have to move it around in the company then someone who doesn't know about overclocking freaks out and can't support himself on it.

- even though it's for work obviously i'm a little nutz about this stuff or i wouldn't be hanging around AT like u guys, so I am really enjoying building something really nice for a change.

>If no gaming, why the raptors? Should have bought 2x 500GB and RAID 1

It's only 1 Raptor, the 150GB model.

The reason for a fast primary drive is that the coding project I work on is fairly large and takes a long time to constantly compile and run.

The reason for the second 500GB is that the project needs tons of photo and video space for testing and stressing the software.

best regards -

Nice machine, I am jealous, seriously :)

I used an older version of that case for my HTPC, really nice case to be honest.

Very nice rig! Perfect for what your doing

The fastest stock dualcore chip in the world, and 2gb's of top notch ram!

Most of the gamers here won't understand
1. Buying an FX chip with unlocked multi and not overclocking.
2. Buying an $1100 cpu and matching it with a $200 videocard

Someone did their HW. Woot! You got about the perfect componets. as far as quiet you're doing a good job too - took me about $400 in air products wasted before I realized only way to silence is water, large rads, and 3 nexus fans at 7Volts.. But you should be fine if all you want is quiet. My goal was not to hear the computer at all and have high end overclocked compents. Videocard and PSU are usually the deal breaker in most air setups.. good luck.
