For me right now it would be about $100 cheaper to get an FX-60 than it would be to buy an E6600..

As far as I understand it, the FX-60 is +/- an E6600 except it has unlocked multiplier which would be a big plus for me.

What do you guys think?

Well, the bigger deal, is the FX-60 won;t OC to near as high as a 6600 would, and in the end the 6600 will be way faster.

Yeah, but on the other hand, I wouldn't have to trade my ram for something else, and the mobo would be cheaper (while remaining high quality).

I don't have gamer ram either, so unlocked multi also means that I can OC without putting up my ram at all.

No, based on the Anandtech review, the E6600 is more like the 6000+, or the equivalent of a hypothetical FX-64.

Building an FX-60 rig at this time isn't really a great move, even after counting the money saved from existing memory. DDR2 prices are falling rapidly, and if you don't mind selling/trading your DDR you'll probably be even on RAM front. Remember socket 939 is a dead end, too. It only makes sense for simple CPU swap upgrade.

In the end, you're better off switching to E6600. More upgrade options in the future and can be overclocked easily. You can probably get a bit for your current pc parts so not all is lost.
