The 4800+ @ 2.8ghz is very attractive..

I still think that the yields on an ACTUAL FX-57 will be slightly better.. 3.2 will definitely happen with a true FX57...

X2 uses twice the power though... For gamers and most single threaded users, e.g. 90% of the population, FX is still top dog.

well when games start using that second core in the dual core processors thats when the fx line looses its "best for gaming" crown.

o man the FX57 will have better yeilds so that will be able to hit 3.2 stable on air, then on water you will be able to hit atleast 3.4 .. Oh why does this FX57 keep tempting me over the 4400+ .. :(

It'll also probably be nearly twice as expensive as the 4400+. :p

Pure speculation. Don't expect this to be true.

Yeah rich stop going to extremesystems... 99.9% of that stuff there is not stable, and 98% pushes too many volts.. In other words xtremelyunreliablesystems.com

"The advantage of the dual core remains the ability to raise the clock multiplier."
Is this right are the X2s Cpu multiplier Unlocked or just the FX's?

yeah, the only way to get that speed is to double the price of the proc by getting a phase change system.

[Our first shot at overclocking to 2.8GHz, and FX57 speeds, went easily with no tweaking at all. Temperatures stayed at about 33 degrees Celcius at that level.
Its not a real 57, its just them trying to be cool by overclocking an existing 55

For all intents and purposes it's a FX-57. It's a 90nm San Diego running at 2.8 GHz with a 14x multiplier... exactly the same as the FX-57 will be.

Well, since graphics is somewhat of a hobby for me, I'll have a chance to develop multi-threaded 64-bit games in my spare time once I get my system. Last I checked, the VS.net 2005 beta is 64-bit capable.

I second that 3.1ghz are showing up in overclocks and someone got over 3.5 using dry ice. Guess it would help with fog effect too.

Very nice. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of FAB 30, love to see the head room on those suckers.
