I have the system in my sig and I'm trying to overclock for fun while I wait to build my new system.

First thing I tried today was to just increase my multiplier to 14 at 200fsb, at stock voltages. I boot up fine, run prime95 cpu test and get an error after 2 minutes. CPU-z is showing vcore of about 1.365 to 1.4. Cpu is rated to 1.5 so I reboot back to bios and set the cpu votage to 1.5, boot and open cpu-z, vcore goes between 1.424 and 1.440 but no higher and I error out of prime 95 in 2 minutes again.

Is this a problem with my power supply? MB? some setting I'm not setting right?

my processor is a little weird, it was given to me by an old neighbor and cpu-z says it's a fx-57 but it's really a fx-55... he told me this ahead of time.

Also fsb in cpu-z says it's at 201 not 200, but Bios is set to 200, is that normal?

My ecs and asrock boards are similar to yours. They top out at about 1.4 volts no matter what I set them to. 200 for fsb is correct. I would try 14 for the multiplier, and maybe drop the htt setting to 800. On my board, I have to set the pci-e video at async to lock it at 100. Cpu-z readings can vary slightly. That's normal.

I would not screw with the FSB on a ECS. FX's have a unlocked multiplier. Just change from 13x to 14x to make it 2.8GHz

that's what I'm trying to do but I couldn't get my core voltage to 1.5. I did find out what I was doing wrong though.

I had CPU VID set to 1.5 but there is another setting Core Voltage that I had set to "By CPU VID" thinking that because that was at 1.5 then the core voltage would be at 1.5. Now I've found that the Core Voltage setting has to be set to "over 5%" while the CPU VID is set to 1.425 to get the closest to 1.5 on my core voltage. on cpu-z it goes from 1.488 to 1.520. I'm running prime 95 now to see what happens.

I tried to up the fsb earlier today to only 205 and upped the memory voltage to the highest rated 2.6 but would not even post so I had to clear cmos..

Ouch now my cpu temp is up to 69C after only running about 6 minutes. guess I don't have the guts in this machine to overclock.
