temp. is 140 degrees F under load. what can i do to bring it down ?, is it the volts ? im running 1.65v running at 267x10.5

thanks for any help

Touch the hsf; see if its warm enough to consider the temps reported as real. Update to the latest BIOS of your motherboard, and try using a lowe voltage, such as 1.6.

what is that in celcius ? Don't have my converter handy, but over 60c is bad. 55c ok, 50c great for an OC'ed machine

F=9/5C + 32
140F=60C. That is pushing the bad envelope for overclocking. The voltage looks to high for my taste

Edit:thewholeshow beat to it dang. Posted about the same time LOL

F = (1.8 X Celsius) + 32

C = ( f - 32)/1.8

C = ( 140 - 32 )/1.8 = 60

60 is getting there in high temps...I am surprised a FX55 only 200mhz oc'd already needs 1.65v....Are these 1.5v default???

Yeah i would lower the voltage & if it is hot to the touch definitely reseat the heatsink as you may have mounted it improperly.

DId you just automatically jump to 1.65v?

See how far you can get on stock Vcore, I would think you could get damn close to 2800mhz..

Keep it under 1.65 . I wouldn't even run 1.65 on my Venice,(granted 90nm vs. 130nm) let alone an $800 FX!

:Q

😛

nothing.....you are flipping a bazillion transistors off and on faster than the CPU was designed for......they say you do not have to worry until 170F, as far as frying it goes....I say turn it up more!!!!

well, here i go again,,,
now am running at 2750mghz stable at 1.55v temp is around 120-125 degrees f under load.
I would like to get this fx to 2800mhz + under air cooling.
maybe my heatsink is not good enough, aerocool ht 101,
2750= 250 x 11. memory timins are 2.5/3/3/7 1t 200mghz

any help ?

yeah the aerocool is crap...you should look at getting an XP-90 or XP-120....

125f = 52c load.....So basically 50mhz more and .1v and you had an additional 8c under load....

It may be the limit and even with a new HSF there is no gaurantee you will get much more....These 130nm FX55 should be fine up to 70c load....60c is by no means excessive just more then most here will run....

I was getting 58-60c with stock opteron cooler on my CPU at 2700mhz (testing)...Got a new TT Venus 12 (not the best) and at same speed I still had to use same vcore and load temps are now 53c yet I was not able to run any higher....That was using 1.61-1.62v actual.....

basically be careful on throwing a bucnh of money at something it may not help much more...

well right now im at 11x253 and under load 127f
it seems that I can not run 2800mhz stable at all, my main concern is the cpu running a bit cooler even if Ican not get any faster.

a few degrees less could extend the life of this $800+ cpu 🙂 while I get to abuse it more than normal.

is the xp120 the one to have or the xp90 ?

are this the best in the market tha money can buy except watercooling ?

thanks

my 3500+ clawhammer at 2.8 runs about 58C

What's the deal with Clawhammers anyway, I've seen fake claims of people running high clocks with CH's, you wanna post a pic or something? And what kind of cooling you got? Thanks.

thats not the best way to tell, actualy its a bad way. if the cpu does not get good contact with the hsf the cpu gets hot and the hsf stays cool. so if your getting 70C, the hsf is only warm, and you think its fine because of that... fryed cpu

Why do Americans use Celsius for hardware temps?

its what the whole world uses other than us so its easy to compair with other people around the world with celsius because where the only ones who use fahrenheit.

why is it called standard if only america uses it?

I use it because that's what they're rated in. Why don't I use fahrenheit since I do for weather and whatnot? Well... for the same reason I don't use kelvins... and for the same reason I don't make up my own units and say my CPU runs at 1,187 Jeff7181's.

Always give CPU temps in Celcius unless you want your thread to turn into a debate about fahrenheit vs. celcius, like this has.
