FX-55 Clawhammer $139 at the Egg

Here we go again. I got in on the San Diego deal, so will pass on this one.

Still waiting on the Opteron to drop in price dramatically, though. That last couple Opteron "price mistake" thread had my heart pumping.

I haven't heard from anyone who's gotten the order fullfilled on the "price mistake" deal.

I didn't expect any did. I just suspect there is an over abundant supply of socket 939 Opteron that vendors are trying to get rid of knowing that the 939 socket is being phased out. Now they are playing the pricing game. I'm just waiting for that legitimate hot deal where these things would move like hot cakes to exhaust this supply. I just have to be patient.

Seems like all the good Opteron deals are being sold through Buy.CA (Canada)....

Totally agree.
I don't expect to see real great deals before the end of the shopping season.
Maybe on black-Friday, Cyber-Monday.
Come January-February, the prices should drop like a rock.

Note that this is the ClawHammer core, it runs at higher temps than the San Diego CPU that was $139 a few weeks ago. 130nm process rather than 90nm.

I'm glad to see this again. I got in on the last deal and had some friends who wanted one but didn't have the cash at the time.

Yep, this chip is a bad overclocker.

Uhhh... is that a joke? These chips were hitting 2.9ghz -3ghz on air and water back when you were lucky to get 2.6ghz on a64's. Sure san diegos will prolly hit 100-300mhz higher and run much cooler, but that doesnt mean these are bad overclockers.

Damn you Hot Deals!...will someone take my card away from me before I...

too late....

in for two

<<<whistles tunelessly and goes hunting for mobos>>>

Those price mistakes all wound up being canceled. Can't say I'm surprised. It was worth a try though. 🙂

How does the COOLMAX "PCI Express" CXI-450B ATX v2.01 450W Power Supply offered in the combo deal rate? Both for $176 delivered sounds pretty decent and I need a new power supply.

I really wish these hot deals came with heatsinks. You can add $20 to the price if you have to buy a heatsink individually.
