I plan on purchasing a Nforce4 939 FX-55 setup when they are available. Given that the FX is multiplier unlocked, and 939 is dual channel, does raising the FSB increase performance? Put another way, if the CPU is the same speed (say 2.6 ghz), does running the FSB at 500 instead of 400 improve gaming performance?

Secondly, if there IS a perfomance increase is it worth the big price jump?

OCZ Platinum PC4200 2.5-3-3-8 $377.48
Mushkin PC3200 2.5-3-3 $155.73

icreasing FSB will give you some performance, even when running at same clock. Personally I don't think that A64 4000+ or FX-55 are worth the money, I would stick with a 3500+.

I understand that there will be some gain, but I haven't found and benchmarks that compare. Anyone know of where I could find some benchmarks? Does anyone have experience with this situation. I am leaning towards PC3200 since 939 is dual channel, but I want the fastest processing within reason. If there is a 2-3% difference like there was with the XP and Nforce 2 (when going to dual channel vs single), then I will go with pc3200. If there is more like a 7-10% difference, then I will have some thinking to do. Anyone who can help, or has an opinion, please chime in.
