I dont have any evidence that it doesnt exist but what i can tell you is that, AMD only release one FX at a time and they will not release another FX55 with the current one already out.

I know that they did release two FX53's but that was because there was a change from skt940 to skt939 (940 being the server pin format platform intially for the opterons and the 939 being the new format for AMD all over the entire range i.e. all 64-bit procs)

The new FX is going to be the FX57 and this is going to be either dual core (which i very much doubt) or have the new E stepping which will use the strained silicon, you would think that this will have a stock clock of 2.8 ... but i have heard rumours that it will be clocked at 3.0Ghz

Oh great...so much for stalling my new rig juz bcuz of this rumoured fx-55...so any idea when exactly will this fx-57 be released? Again...it is rumoured that it will be released much earlier than expected...zzz
Regarding the fx-55 90nm with E stepping...any views from the rest?

Of course, this is all pure speculation.

With the exception of the AMD FX series processors, the FSB multiplier on AMD 64 processors cannot be raised above the the value that corresponds to the CPU's rated speed. For example, for an Althon 64 Winchester 3500+, which has a rated speed of 2.2 GHz, the multiplier cannot be set to a value greater than 11 (since 11x200MHz = 2.2 GHz). For FX processors, the multiplier is NOT limited (thus, for the FX-55, it may be raised above its "normal" value of 13).

Note that for ALL AMD 64 processors, there's no lock in the other direction, and the multiplier may be lowered below the normal value.

2.8 Ghz on 90 nm process is next, then the current highest clock speed of 2.6Ghz Held by the FX 55 will be passed down to the 4200+ (Not sure if they'll halve the cache down to 512k from the one meg)

On the AMD forums they say FX-61 will be the first dual core or the last single core FX, but I think thats wishful fanboy thinking slipping in.

Well the latest Opteron was relased at 2.6g on 90mm. So I think its safe to say the 90mm process is doing well and we'll probably soon see at least a 2.8 FX with the improvements. I believe this is probably why you still have a hard time getting an FX55. I believe I read somewhere that AMD has completely converted its entire cpu line to 90mm now.

Haiz...so frustrating...demand exceeds supply...bad bad thing...the 2.8Ghz u were talking abt is FX-57 right...which probably will only arrive ard Q3...just hoping that AMD release some high o/c-ing capabilities FX-55 for sale...then i'll be contented...nevermind abt 130nm or 90nm...or SSE3...cant really be bothered abt it now...:)

By Dec 04' 50% of Fab 30's wafer starts were 90 nm.
