FX 53 Temps

My new comp with an FX 53 has the CPU tem at 50 C and its constant. That seemed a little high to me, but does it sound right to you?

First, what is the amient temp ?
2) Why motherboard (sensors may be reading wrong)
3) What HSF, and did you use thermal paste ?

That cpu will probably be fine at 65c, 70c tops.

BUT, it should not be running that hot I don;t think, however a lot depends on what the answers to the above questions. My Opterons, one idles at 50c, the other at 46c, but I am not sure I believe my sensors, especially since I have identical HSF units, and the case side is off at the moment. And the same HSF keeps my Athlon64 3000+ stable at 2.2 ghz at 32c idle.

I dunno what board you have, but I have the Asus A8V and with the side panel of my case ON, I get 45c idle and ~58c under load.
With the side panel OFF, I get ~38c idle and ~50c load.

Translation: I need better airflow.

My FX-51 on the Asus SK8N was running right around 70c, and up to 75c loaded. I was informed by many reputable source that it was a 'normal' temp and not to worry... so I installed watercooling 😉 Then my temp went down to around 30c, I'm happy with that. Really, though, your temps are nothing to worry about.

Define "full whack".

I paid what it cost a few weeks ago when NE first had them in stock; $811.
Now at NE they are up to $869 and look to be increasing in price every week!
