A refurb cpu...you gotta be kidding me?

Yeah they got these malaysian sweat shop workers that reopen the chip in some dank dusty factory made out of bamboo then they rewire it by hand............

Note:

90% of the time refurb=used. It's a crime that stores can pervert the term the way they have.

refurbished just means , used and tested to new specifications.

seeing as there are no moving parts on a cpu , any used cpu can be called refurbished.

this isnt a bad deal if you already have an opteron board. i could imaging someone who got say a opteron 140 when they first came out, getting a huge speed boost getting this (1.4 ghz vs. 2.4 ghz after all). say you have already spend the cash on an sk8n and a bunch of ecc reg ram (we have a bunch of these at my work)

socket 940 chips are harder to find at these speeds, so not bad at all of a deal.

you can get socket 939 new 4000 chips for about this, so i dont think its too hot for a new system.

Probably one someone bought planning to OC the heck out of it, found out that the one they got didn't OC worth a darn and then came up with some BS excuse to return it to Newegg. At stock speeds it probably works just fine, though.
