FX 5200 -vs- GF3 non ti

I am revamping my kid's computer (Athlon 2400+, 1 gig ram) and I have a GF3 in it now and have been given an fx 5200. Which would be better for something like WoW? the gf3 really struggles at 800x600 and I am wondering if the 5200 would be better?

My bet is on the GF3.

After looking at some benchmarks, the 5200 is about on par with a geforce4 in some games, but much slower in others.

The GeForce 3 would get my vote there too. I'm using a GeForce 3 Ti 200 in an old machine (1.33GHz Athlon) and it runs WoW fine at 800x600, not tried it higher as 256MB RAM holds the whole machine back.

My brother used to have both a GF3 Ti200 and an FX5200, and they played about the same. It's your call.

I had the FX5200 and i must say that, that card is one of the worst card I've ever owned. I remember reading an article on top 10 failed videocard made and that one ranked pretty high.

3 simply has more horsepower, except the 5200 is more efficient with AA/AF but they both bog down on that in modern games, my guess is the 3 unless you have a 5200U or it overclocks well? also many 5200's are 64bit cards (gf3 will kill it then) see what you have.
