looks decent.

I wonder, can you turn down all the gfx options to minimize the impact of that 4870? (disregard if you've already done so)

And, is that 45 FPS fairly representative of the performance throughout the game? (by which I mean the 64-player MP match)

I'd be interested to know how this compares to a cheap SB-based dual core. And how hyper-threading can help the intel 2 core part. -- though this last point I'm sure I can search for myself.

Thanks! I ordered a fx4100 just now because of this post. I have an athlon II 620 that needs replacing and this looks exactly what I need.

just to give you a heads up you must overclock it to get your moneys worth. but its very easy you can get up to 4.4GHz on stock just fine or 4.8GHz with an aftermarket cooler ?

A really good cheap upgrade for op would be an 8GB ram kit. 4GB is really pushing it imho.

ik lol it will be upgraded soon ? video card first though ?

I think the 8GB memory kit can be had for peanuts, less than $40 for sure. A real video card upgrade (maybe look at the upcoming 660/660ti or 7850 or better) will cost a pretty solid chunk of change. So I'd do the ram just for a nice cheap boost, and save up for a solid card.

I got a basic coolermaster hyper that reviewed ok for $15. My athlon II could hit 3.3GHz but my mobo is going out and an old ddr2 one. I have 16GB of ddr3 sitting around so I had already ordered a mobo so should be good. Even at stock speeds it would be comparable to the athlon II i'd imagine but yeah i'll push it.
