I have been using a Dell M 90 laptop with FX1500m built in it and I have been able to play WoW and Battlefield series games without issues. Over the weekend I built a system based on Vista32, E8400, Abit ip35 pro, 4 gigs of ram and a Hitachi 1TB drive. All of the latest drivers are installed and there are no ? or ! in device manager, and even a game like Wow is unplayable on the new system... I know its a bottom of the line vid card but still, shouldn't it outperform my laptop?

Should'a gone with 64, not a lot of incompatibilities anymore. Plus you lost about 600mb of RAM.

The FX1500m is about equal to a 7900GS, which should (rightly) blow the shit out of your 8400GS.

A quadro 140 nvs would be more equal to your 8400GS.

Thanks for the clarification on the cards. I have 64Vista on my laptop and there are allot of programs that will not work with it, since this is a new build I thought I would give 32vista a go and if it sux like the 64 version I'll just put on XP on it. I bought a evga 8800GTS 512 but I blew it up so I will RMA it and I bought the 8400gs as a temporary card. Since the 8800 is going back is there a different card that is better? I really dont have a budget for the card, but I would hate to spend allot of money on something that will give me marginal improvement. Any suggestions?

Blew it up? And no, there is nothing that will be beyond a miniscule improvement without spending tons of money. Just take your 8800GTS back and DON'T BLOW IT UP THIS TIME.

Yea, it is my first build in about 6 years. I got a modular PSU and plugged the ePCI power cable into a sata power power output port (hey it fits, they should make them different shape for idiots like me :) ) When I booted the system there was this continues beep, I thought there would be some other ones so I waited a few seconds and then there was this loud pop. Fried the card and mobo :) Anyway, thanks for the advice!!
