People found ways to pass invalid data, resulting in ratings like -457912407.3

No fair - you can't get #8 fixed until I get #6 taken care of. :D
I've been mentioning that one for a looooong time.

Well, I'm just trying to make a positive, helpful, suggestion that actually gets implemented. That way, at least I can say I contributed in another way. I'll even go a step further!

How about change #8 to "here's how to PM a moderator." Although, I also suggested this in another thread which was locked this morning. I find it rather unusual that the mod(s) in several particular threads requested users to PM them with any complaints, yet in the FAQ, it only explains where to send an email, not how PM a moderator. The only places I've found how to PM a mod where within posts in threads. It would be nice to have a more readily place to click a link.

Incidentally, go to private messages, click on the search feature and attempt to search for moderator: I was rather unsuccessful attempting that method (and found a user who I hope is permabanned)

How about having the Buddy list automatically include a Mod PM link.
It could optionally be remove by manual deletion as all other buddy links are.

Now there's a great idea :)
/me thinking back quite a few years, hoping EagleKeeper isn't being sarcastic and that I have, in fact, accidentally removed it.

Incidentally, how do you manually add a moderator to the buddy list?

Thanks,
Tom

edit: nevermind, "anandtech moderator" I figured it out myself (I had attempted just plain "moderator" to no avail)

Sarcasm from me only exists for idiots or stupid questions.
Should you avoid both categories, then the comment is intended to be helpful.

There used to be a rating feature in user profiles which allowed users to rate other members on a scale from 1 to 10. It was removed a long time ago (2 years?).

...did it do anything? or was it so other members no whether or not to beware a certain user even if they had no heat?

No, it didn't really *do* anything, it was just a fun feature.

a. it was abused. Some members figured out how to pass other information to it, resulting in ridiculous ratings (negative a lot or positive a lot)
b. They were pointless. I suppose some may have considered them "fun," but I don't see how.
