My roommate listens to this horrible emo music all the time...lots of crappy male singers switching between sobbing and screaming at the top of their lungs. It's HORRIBLE music!

Think it's revenge for me watching Gundam Seed at 2AM?

emo does suck for the most part, but if I've learned one thing about living with roomates, is that it's give and take. For everything that he does that you hate, I'm sure there is something that you do that he hates. Choose your battles wisely, revenge can only perpetuate animosity. I suggest buying him some headphones, or at least suggesting that he use them when you are arround. You should lead by example as well, don't expect him to give up his music (no matter how crappy it may be) if you would not be willing to do the same were your situations reversed.

hardcore punk kids from the 80's that decided to be super sensitive and cry a lot while they knit themselves sweaters. the music can still be pretty aggressive (screaming, loud, etc), but they mostly sing about broken hearts instead of broken knee caps. these days it has bubbled up from the underground into the new mainstream. that's where you're seeing all the studded belts and jet-black greasy hair and tight pants from.
