I just upgraded my 20" Dell 2005FPW to a 22" SP2208WFP. Both run at a native resolution of 1680x1050. I'm also running a nvidia 6800 card with 256MB video memory.

Since plugging in the new monitor, all I can say is that fonts look like a$$. Really, it's very difficult to read text in a title bar or in my inbox. I've played around with all the clear type adjustments and it does look worse when clear type is off.

Graphics and monitor drivers have been updated. The display is equally bad over either a DVI or VGA connection.

My question is, could the video card be the issue? Even though both monitors run at the same resolution, could the screen size have an effect?

This isn't just me. Both my brother and wife think somethings wrong. I just can't figure out what it might be.

Thanks.

It's your card. The 6800gt I had in my sons pc did the same thing. When I replaced it with an 8800gt the text sharpened up to normal. The digital video output on it doesn't seem to be very good to an lcd monitor.

also you are used to a 20 inch ws. I have the Samsung 206bw but tried the 226bw out for a while and the text looked like ass on that as well compared to the smaller screen.
