Fuzzy logic memory clock... what does it mean?

I have a t-bird 1ghz with msi pro2-A and am using the fuzzy logic program... the memory clock says its running at 100mhz, but i have 133mhz memory (or so i thought) is this the actual mhz at which my memory is running? When i overclock using the "auto" and "turbo" option it kicks the mem clock to about 105 or so. Is this memory not pc133? any help is great. thanks

When you set up your system you likely used some jumpers to set the memory to 100 MHz. If that is not the case then it was set automatically. It has to be in harmony with both the motherboard and your chip.

Say your chip is a PIII 700 MHz that is made for use with a bus speed (also known as Front Side Bus) of 100 MHz. If you use this with a motherboard that won't allow the memory to work at a different speed than the bus speed then your memory will work at 100 MHz.

133 MHz memory can work at 133 or lower. So it will work fine at 100 if that is what your system needs.

Again I am not sure if you can change the motherboard to allow your FSB speed to be 100 (or 105 if you up it a bit with Fuzzy Logic) and also allow the memory to work at 133 speed. Some motherboards allow this and some do not.

Just becuase your ram is PC133 does not mean that is what it will run at. It simply means it is rated for 133mhz. It will run at what the system board has is set for.

Fuzzy Logic is software that comes with MSI boards. You can probably get it from their web page.

I also have a k7tpro2a, you can set your memory to 133 in the bios (i dont use the windows bios software) THe default is 100, you have to bump it up in the advanced chipset menu

If you go to your "advanced chipset" in your bios, and set it to auto, it should put it up to 133... assuming your ram is 133. From there, you should be able to see on fuzzy logic

oh yea, what i find funny about these mobos is that they say 133, but the default is 100 fsb... and its tough to get it oc'd past 105... so, whats the point? im not sure... tell me

there is a seperate memory clock that you can run at 133, I guess thats where the 133 comes from. You can only run the fsb up to about 112 or so.

Here are my results... after downloading the newest bios version via livebios from msi, i was able to set my ram to 133, if i set it to default it runs at 100. Then after my computer was kind of "broke in" i started bumping it up, i got the fsb up to 117 without any problems, above that and it hangs. I used the default setting for vcore which was about 1.83. (default is 1.75 or something, but the pro2a's run higher than posted). Thanks for all of your comments!
