My 24inch GDM-FW9010 (same as Sony FW900 ) keeps going out of focus. Even the On screen Display is fuzzy so I know it's not a video card issue. To resolve it I need to power cycle the monitor, some times several times. Is this monitor end of life or is there a trick? Degauss doesn't help either. My warranty's out.

Thanks,

20/20

This picture itself is NOT out of focus, notice the "SUN" is in focus but the screen is fuzzy.

Here is the OSD, notice it is fuzzy compared to the book

Not too many CRT's have the ability to adjust focus nowadays. And even if yours could, it coudnt be enough. That puppy is so far gone it really cant be helped.
Sorry bud. It was a great monitor in its day, but that thing is old and worn out. I think you need to get a new one.

I saw somebody selling the big Sony 24" for a mere 475 bucks. Let me search for a link and I'll be back.

EDIT: Damn! That was tough to find. I think the search function needs a little polish.

Yeah, that's very blurry. Perhaps try adjusting the focus pots inside if you know the precautions (high voltage).

Thanks for all you comments. Sorry for not making it clear, the monitor works, this is just intermittant, so I don't know if changing the focus back there (high voltage caution) would change a whole lot. I guess it would just be nice to know the technical reason this was getting fuzzy?

Your monitor is kaput. Either repair or blast it with bullets second choice is more fun.

Yep and my HP7217A's (FW-900) green gun is slowly going downhill. Ah well its STILL an awsome monitor and I intend to replace it with the same, when it dies.
