i guess this keeps all the scores a bit more organized by using the official drivers.

With all the cheating that goes on in games much to my dismay, is it possible for someone to hack their 3Dmark to publish higher scores than it should? Or that they are using WHQL drivers when they are not?

Probably is possible given what they do to our games and the seemlingly impossible task of stopping some hacks like map hack in RTSs and wallhack in FPSs like CS.

AFAIK the only non WHQL drivers that I have are for my monitor. Why Viewsonic doesn't have them for their P95f is beyond me.

i doubt nvidia gives a flyin f about this. If those prelim benchies of the nv35 prove to be accurate, then they will have nothing to worry about. I'm glad Nvidia is starting to pull away from 3Dmark anyways, they used to tout it as such a great benchmark and it's glad to see companies finally admit that it really has little to do with real world gaming performance in most cases.

If I cared at all about synthetic benchmarks then I'd be pleased.

But I suppose it'll stop beta, unrepresentitive driver results from deceiving buyers and that's always a good thing.

It's not as though NVIDIA "just realized" the synthetic benchmarks had little do with real world gaming. Their NV30 was getting ass rammed so it's not like they had a trump card to use like they did in the past.

Believe me, if the 5800 Ultra was consistently beating the 9700 Pro/9800 Pro in benchmarks, NVIDIA would have been all over 3DMark03.
