Future Proofing Monitor Choice (Thought)

Hey;

My idea in choosing a monitor is to choose the monitor that would run my ideal set up. For example: 4K monitor vivid and vibrant colors, 1ms, 144hz and Gsync.

My current gpu can't run a decent fps on 4k but alright with 2k. I would run the games on 2k resolution and when I upgrade lets say in 2 years. My monitor would not need to be replaced.

I don't think there is a huge difference in price between 2K and 4K monitors currently. If this is stupid let me know or a monitor of choice that would be better.

You can probably grow into your 3K monitor over time. Right now, there is very little media, including games, that are written to the $K (UHD) standard. It's really a question of cost vs. benefit. If you wait, the 4k monitors will drop in price and probably have improvements not available today.
