It's been intel+ms for a looong time. And it's been good for the average consumers too, with the standardisations and all that, and for the same reason, possibly for the progammers and oem manufacturers as well.
So, who's really driving the pc structure in the future?
Is amd ever going to make IA-64 processors?
Do average users really need 64bit programs?
What's AMD hopping to gain from diverging from intel's path?
Will MS make a OS for X86-64 architecture?
Will ANYONE make a software for x86-64?
Will pc gets smaller and smaller until everything gets integrated?
(all you have to do to upgrade is to replace one big chip?)
Will pc ever be all-propietary?
