FuseTalk Feature Request: Can we blacklist people from our threads?

There are a handful of people and OT and quite a few in Politics&News that never, ever post anything useful but because they haven't done anything wrong, they are still allowed to remain a member. A lot of times this is fine since nothing is really said in the majority of those threads, but in my threads occasionally I want relevant responses. Do you think we could have some sort of blacklist where I can select which members CANNOT respond to my thread? This feature should be only on certain forums and not forums like For Sale/Trade because of the possible abuse.

Is there any reason why this should NOT be allowed? I think it would tame a lot of people that are just critical about everything and never really say anything useful. The only time it could be abused would be in FS/FT when a troll wouldn't want people posting to their thread, but this should be a moderator option for the forum.

Thanks, and keep up the good work on FuseTalk.

I can totally relate to your situation, but in the grand scheme of things, this just seems like another form of Private Topics. Sure, everyone can view it, but being able to exclude a certain group of people is bound to bring up a lot of problems and controversy, so I'm pretty sure this won't be happening.

Well, you can get around this. In a private, you have to select which members you WANT to view it, in this, you don't. You have to manually exclude people. Since AT has thousands of members you can only select a few to block. And it's not a private topic because the moderators could still read all the content and lock it if it got abused, like the PTs did. And also, all guests can browse and read the content, just not post. It's considerably different than PTs and offers much less potential for abuse.

Basically, there are only about ten people that I would want to block from ever posting in any of my threads again.

This is actually a great idea but the guys over at FuseTalk would be the ones you have to convince.

Maybe Zuni will see this thread and like the idea also but keep in mind that even if he did, I wouldn't expect to see it added for a long time if ever.

As far as controversy goes, I'm sure that's true. There would be incessant whining and moaning from the asshats nobody wants to be around in real life or on the forum.

"not gonna be happening"

This would lead to lots of "abuse" I would imagine. Alot of threads would be started and people who didn't agree with the point of view would find themselves unable to post a response. What good would that be? I can imagine lots of ways that could cause problems.
