How much of a loser would I be if I got one of those amazing bunk bed with a desk underneath combos? I've already resigned from ever having another girlfriend so that issue isn't a big deal anymore.

I wouldn't pay much for it, as it's easy to build, but I'm old as shit, and think that's pretty cool :^D

I agree that it's cool, but I'd want one with a little more style than that personally.

You know, the minute you get one of these and get settled in, you'll get a girlfriend and you'll have to get rid of it and get something she approves of.

I'd turn the fridge and microwave towards you so you don't have to move so far.

that's pretty bad.

ironically, I didn't date for the longest time because I hated my apartment and didn't want to ever bring anyone back to it.

then I moved to an amazing apartment, totally remodeled half of it, spent a ton on furniture, started dating, fell into a relationship, and my boyfriend's been to my place like twice in the past 2.5 months /facepalm

If you're gonna do something like that, make sure you rig the bottom space into a battle station. I'm thinking surround sound, proper racing equipments, surround monitors, etc... Hmm, that would kick ass.

That's what I had at college (Clarkson Univ). Those things are super functional. And women are not a problem up there. More room than you think.

I wouldn't think twice about them at 19.

at 29, if a guy brought me back to his place and he had a loft bed, I'd laugh (unless he was in a really tight studio or something)

If you are still living in your parent's house feel free. Fuck paint the collection of Pokemons all over it to go into total BALLER mode.

I've been digging the idea of minimal pocket houses lately. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that, That would be perfect for one of those setups.

I had one until I got married. They're functional, but we never tried anything that "active" on it.

bad investment, go with an apartment or condo at that point.

Treating housing as an "investment" is one of the reasons our economy got fucked over this last round. Housing is exactly that, housing. It's shelter to keep you warm, and keep the rain off your head. It isn't a high stakes gambling device to get rich quick.

Aside from that, an apartment or condo only goes where someone decides to build it. A small house can go anywhere you want it to.

Yeah, but because of supply and demand, companies generally decide to build apartment buildings where people actually want to live. Besides, have to put a house where there is already decent infrastructure, water, sewage, electricity, preferably broadband. So you choices are just as limited.

If you need to move, just take everything in the apartment with you to the new one. A house is just an empty shell anyway. It's the stuff you put inside it that makes it personal.
