Depends on the furnace. Get the model number and search for it. If you have a multimeter and some familiarity with using it you should be able to figure out what is going on with it. There should be an electrical diagram affixed to it to help you as well. Ours died in the middle of winter a couple years ago and after troubleshooting it using the diagram, a meter, and some helpful info I found with google I was able to fix it and get it running again. It turned out to be a stuck thermal switch that needed nothing more than a tap to unstick it.
