For some reason, when I stability test my cards, I'll get a 1-2 second stutter every so often. This is even with the fans running at 100% (using 10.5 drivers) The first stutter began 2-3 seconds into the test around 55*c the other just happened about a min into the test @ 73*c...

Furmark stutters (i.e. is not smooth) for me with my 5850 at stock and overclocked, regardless of fan speed or voltage, and similarly did so with my 4850...it's a brutal overheating program that I doubt driver teams optimise for, so I presume it's just saturating mem bandwidth in the process of saturating the shaders.

If it doesn't happen in real world games (there's an oxymoron for you!), who cares? ;)

Does it appear that the system locks up for a second or so? i.e. everything freezes briefly then resumes and you see a drop in the temps and then it resumes running?

I see this both with 5970s and 480GTX SLI too. I would not worry about it.

@ dug777 - good to hear, and you're right! If it doesn't stutter in "real world" games, then no big deal, haa

@ Ruby - yes, it seems like 'system lock' for a brief second. yeah, that little weird temp drop thing (experience) Lemme borrow your 480 GTXs, WOOO! - which brand did you buy? I'm looking at getting one for Premiere Pro CS5: or a GTX 285 which is officially supported by Adobe.

Haven't even started to game yet. Just got my RMA replacement E760 A1 Classified board in yestserday - the f*ckin PCB is warped - for crying out loud! - what really irks me is the PITA bios update flow

EDIT: it's crazy too, the damn 5870s idle at 45*c at 100% fan speed - it's gotta be the 800D case.... 76*f

What version of Furmark are you running? I kept getting a furmark has stopped responding error when doing the stress test at specs in sig only in Furmark stess test. Everything else was 100% stable. For some reason if I downclocked my cpu it would not error out. Maybe flakey power supply on my end? Downloaded the latest one today and am currently testing my card at 1025/1300 1.2625v did a 15min run at 1000/1300 no problem.

I'll have to look and see if I see the stutter you guys talk about.
