Furmark/Kombustor on my Tri SLI GTX 480s

I was worried about running Kombustor on my Triple SLI GTX 480 setup. That worry turned into confusion when I noticed my temps not exploding upward like I have seen online. The temps never got above 90 degrees on any of the three cards. I've seen 100+ in videos and in forum posts. Here's a screenshot of the results:

Kombustor is still running and it still hasn't gone above 89 degrees. With Folding @ Home, the cards sit at around 91 degrees. Folding does a better job pushing these cards than Furmark/Kombustor does apparently.

I did install a Scythe 140mm 93 CFM fan to the back of the case to help exhaust the air from the three cards.

It helps keep the fans on the cards from getting too noisy.

So those cards are overclocked also?

I must say that it one bad a$$ system man.
How did you mount that fan? I have the same case.
I'm jealous.

3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape

Had some left over from when I modified my GTO. There would have to be some real force applied to get the fan off the case.

So with that extra fan your video cards are running at over 190 degrees?😱 How loud are the Fermis around the 200 degree level?

Entering a thread for the sole purpose of converting the temps into °F when they were already reported in °C and then bolding it in addition to emoticon serves no purpose other than to cause angst and consternation in the thread.

Thread-crapping is unacceptable.

ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY DEGREES!

...fahrenheit

On the tolerable meter, the fans are more tolerable at 3700 RPM than they are at 4500 RPM by my scientific estimates.

Those are amazing temps , especially as you must have all three sandwiched together. That fan on the back of your case, that is attached right over the rear of the video cards and is sucking air out of them ? 😱

Try some furmark runs, it pushes the temps up even further. I finally tamed my 480s in an 800D case with some changes to aftermarket fans. They're not quiet but they run cool enough now.

Yeah, the fan is attached right over all three vents and sucking the air out.

I think Kombustor is just a different GUI version of Furmark with MSI branding on it.

They're similar but Furmark has an xtreme mode that seems to push cards higher. If you look at my results, Furmark runs my cards 5C hotter.

OP what are your ambients, and are you using the stock fan profile? Those are really great temps, im hitting 91C with one card, and I would say my case has really good airflow.

That trick with the fan on the back is something I have been thinking about as well, although I would like to make it a bit more permanent.

Groove did you change the cooler on the 480 or were you talking about case fans, what is your ambient temp and are you using the stock fan profile?

I'm using the stock cooler, I changed my case fans and added some case fans, but I've changed the TIM on these cards to some of the Noctua stuff. I don't use a stock fan profile, my fans were at 80% in those temp charts I posted. Ambient is around 25 or so.

Not used to Fahrenheit numbers in the USA?

Oh:\

I can't remember the last time a member used Fahrenheit numbers to describe GPU, CPU, or any other PC component.

190F Sure "sounds" much hotter than 90C. 😉

Anyway, everyone uses Celsius, even in the US, when describing computer component temps. For future reference.
