Furious with Nvidia and its partners

I just asked EVGA for the MSRP on e-geforce 6800GT PCI-E cards. They responded:

The MSRP price for e-Geforce 6800GT PCI-Express would $499.99.

Now this bridge chip is worth $100 US what the hell is going on. It is January 25, 2005 why the hell are prices so high still.

How is Nvidia the only company guilty of this? I mean, I realize their prices are gouged (which is more the work of the retailer than NV), and there were some availability problems, but I dare anyone here to tell me with a straight face that ATi is doing any better...

This time around BOTH chip manufacturers dropped the ball on shipping their products on time and in quantity. Be furious at the industry.

Yeah... er.. Yeah!!!. J/k. It's not the bridge chip that costs 100.00 dude. It's the availability of PCI-E cards at the moment. If you look at the X800XL, whose MSRP is supposed to be 300.00, well, if you can find one, it will probably be 150 to 200 dollars over MSRP. I want one of these so I am scouring th web for them. But I will only buy it at MSRP that was quoted by ATI.

I'm furious with my Mom, damn her for making me turn out this way!

Sigh

What a pointless thread. eVGA as a manufacturer can set the MSRP at whatever they want. What you think is "fair" isn't relevant, law of supply/demand is.

I have a "feeling" eVGA can sell every 6800GT they can make for $499, just like ATI can probably sell every X850 they make for $600..

That's interesting... Somebody is now removing posts entirely. Not just editing them, but removing all evidence of them. Except they slipped up and didn't (or couldn't) edit the timestamp.

AFAIK, the threads should be listed in chronological order based on the timestamp of the last post within the thread. But the last post made in this thread (before this one) was at 1:33 PM, yet it somehow managed to get placed between 1:54 PM and 2:10 PM.

I seem to recall seeing a thread here concerning Rollo's unwarranted sarcastic post. Something along the lines of "Let's all PM Rollo before posting to gain approval" yet it is no longer here. Somebody is now deleting posts entirely?

I always thought it was the Anandtech Moderator's policy to EDIT posts, not delete them entirely. Unless somebody has unauthorized access to the website or is misusing their authority.

I have a screenshot saved just for the heck of it.

What do you people expect, its new technology, a lot of people want pci-e, just wait a few months...........

That's way too much to spend on a video card. But I'm one to talk. I spent $400 on an X800 Pro.

I got tired of the delays on the XT PEs from Gateway and CDW.

I gotta bump my budget down back to $200.

I bought a 6800GT AGP at Best Buy for $400. I returned it when I decided to go PCIe instead. I then bought the 6800GT PCIe for $400. Of course, that was before the Chumbo deal was widely known.

That's not a bad deal, but I just bought the single card for $400. They actually have the card alone listed as highly allocated at $400 right now. I thought they decided to stop selling the card without the PS.

The demand for PCIe graphics cards is not high. Therefor to recoupe expenses price is high. Why does everyone who converts to PCIe b1tch and moan about prices. What did you expect?
