Fuquay Varina

I live in Raleigh, NC. Fuquay is just south of here. It's acutally two small towns that sit right next to each other.

I live 5 minutes away. It's not French at all, it's a small but growing country town outside of Raleigh, closer to Holly Springs (where I live).
 
so if "Fuquay" and "Varina" aren't french words, what language is that?

i never heard those words in english

what is a "Fuquay" or a "Varina" ?

i am sure they are nice towns with nice peoples, the names just jumped out at me as unusual

Actually it's considered one town now. Text But used to be 2 separate entities:
The two communities eventually joined together in 1963.

the Davey Crockett with the my excellent compatriot skin cap?

so it is named after davy crockett and some dudes wife whose name wasn't Varina , her name was Virginia but he called her that anyway

Different Crockett, the famous one is spelled Davy I believe. Virginia's pen name was Varina, so he named the town that rather than her real name since he had know her as Varina for so long...
