Actually, on further review... it is staged. The first hint: no paint visible. The second hint is the fat kid smiles at 25 seconds, right before the cut... not something that a guy in that situation is likely to do.

EDIT: plus, as circumstancial evidence, in the second camera shot, the fat kid points to the guy, saying something like "I want you to take the CO2 out", and seconds later, a splash is created behind his leg, and I think that someone shooting from where he was pointing to would have hit his leg, not the water. Admittedly, its pretty thin (the evidence in this paragraph, not the kids leg), but combined with the smiling at the end of camera shot one, my conclusion is that the video is staged/fake

Look, the point here isnt what they are firing, the point is the kid is SMILING after being "hit" and screaming at the guy. Ergo, he isnt really pissed/hurt, ergo the movie is fake. Everything else is incidental.

To answer the question, some BB guns also use C02
