I always ponder people who identify themselves as Republicans or Democrats. It seems to me and hence the reason for the thread. If anyone that gave the issue some thought would probably pick what worked from both political parties and try to make sure whomever represented them did the same.
Gun Laws: This one goes to the Republicans. Carry concealed Deadly weapons training etc.. lowers crime rates as then the citizens are trained.. and have weapons instead of just the criminal element having them. Remember police primarily do ?after the fact policing,? which needs to be done but doesn?t protect citizens very well. I believe that just like a driver?s license represent a level of competency before driving CCDW etc represent a level of sanity and competence before owning a gun. More guns laws are insane as the focus should be actually enforcing the ones we have. Democrats may leads us down the primrose path to Australia or England current status.
Economy-This hands down belongs to the Democrats as every time Republicans come into office the economy goes to ****. Unemployment, stocks.. prices of gas.. you name it. Republican economics is directed towards the extremely wealthy.
Foreign Policy/Wars etc: Split ..half the time the Republicans are war hungry the other half of the time Democrats won't get off their ass and fight the fight that needs to be fought. Obviously we need better laws dealing with immigration, taxing only our exports....instead of free trade.. etc..
Education: Democrats usually want to cut spending here less.
Healthcare: Democrats.. though reducing frivolous lawsuits would be good?letting shoddy medical practice occur is insanity. Plus trying to get everyone some level of basic health care..is a good thing.
Environment: Democrats
Law: Split. Republicans want to juice people to bad, even though there is record of innocent men ending up on death row and Democrats would have half the mass murders walking around.
You hear things like this: ?Moral values...traditional blah?
Example: - jodhas ?For my children's sake, I hope and wish that we do keep the traditional America instead of becoming like the Europe or the Canadien government.?
By biggest question is what exactly a traditional America is? As whatever that is does that mean that regardless what the will of the people is... it should stay that way? Is traditional what keeps the teen pregnancy rate high or makes talking about sex in America a huge taboo....yet we are the porn capital of the world? Is it what causes someone taking pictures in a public place to be labeled a pervert if he is taking picture of a cute female instead of being called heterosexual? That same fact slowly diminishing the legal right to take pictures and turning it into something wrong? The invasion of space aliens changing our species? Is it a style of fashion? The right to breast feed in public? Nude beaches? More violence or less violence in video games? What exactly are these traditional values that are domes over so many discussion of polotitics to get people on the ?right side? with never actually discussing what values you want to place upon the rest of America.
Frankly, I could go on guessing for hours but would rather just wait for an answer.
The concept is irritating. Isn?t a traditional value one which embraces family and home? Yet people who spout this stuff and also talk about politics seem to think that one?s values should be found in government and not the home. A government obviously can make a moral decision concerning a nation?s involvement upon many activities yet how it that a government can offer ?traditional values?? Wouldn?t any of these concepts go against freedom itself? That is if a government tried to impact individual?s value system or enforce a value system at all?
