I walk into Togos and I ask for a #2.

Me : Can I have a #2 please?
Guy: What kind of bread?
Me : White please.
Guy: We don't have white
Me : can I have Wheat then?
Guy: We don't have wheat
Me : what do you have?
Guy: Onion
Me : Sure, that'll be fine.

why did the guy ask in the first place.

He asked cause he's supposed to. If he had just put your sandwich on onion w/o asking, you would have said, "WTF? I didn't want onion, WTF is wrong with you?" It's easier for him to say, "we're out of white".

I prefer Subway over Togos, but Togos over Quiznos. Quizno's isn't appealing after two or so sandwhiches.
