My technician at work is a great person but a complete ditz. Apparently, she passed along some bad genes.
Today she was telling me that her daughter and son-in-law left Rochester, NY at 10:00 PM by car for Philadelphia.
Turns out the guy plugged a coffee mug warmer he got as a Christmas gift into the cigarette lighter and shorted out his alternator.
Everytime they stopped at a toll both (which is quite frequent on the NYS Thruway), the car stalled out and they had to get a jump. At the first toll booth, the attendant helped them out, but at subsequent toll booths they had to flag down motorists. My tech's daughter didn't have a flashlight so she used a little book light to get motorist's attention. At one stop, a tow truck gave then a jump and then charged them $40. She didn't have the money so the guy said he would bill them. At a cetain point, I guess they got tired of stalling out and started blowing through the toll booths although they later realized out that if they reved the engine when they stopped, the car wouldn't stall out. Can't wait to see what the fine is for not paying the tolls. 11 1/2 hrs after leaving Rochester, they arrived in Philly. Normally, it''s about a 5 1/2 to 6 hr drive.
The funny thing is, this girl got a 1380 on her SATs and is heading to medical school next year.
When I heard this story I LMFAO!
