My roommate spends a lot of time lurking on these forums, and never really wants to post anything, so I'm doing this as a joint effort for the sake of everyone's amusement. This is an excerpt from an AIM conversation that is simply priceless. Also, for deletion-prevention, I'll advise our friend legitimately bought BFV, however ripped the ISOs onto his hard drive before leaving for college. I'm sure I'll get flames and such for this, but for those of you willing to read through this will get a good laugh at the sheer absurdity of our friend who is an IT major at our university and the co-founder and vice-president of the electronic gaming club on campus.

Our Friend (8:49:39 PM): why do i need a mini cd?
Our Friend (8:49:48 PM): i have the images
My Roommate (8:49:49 PM): because were running non cracked copies
My Roommate (8:49:54 PM): well if the images work then its fine
Our Friend (8:49:58 PM): ok
My Roommate (8:50:05 PM): but you cant crack it or you wont be able to connect
Our Friend (8:50:10 PM): i have to install it ttyl
My Roommate (8:50:10 PM): and if your images are fine for that then that wroks
My Roommate (8:50:14 PM): k
Our Friend (8:50:17 PM): k bye
My Roommate (8:50:23 PM): later
Our Friend (9:14:51 PM): do you have a server up?
My Roommate (9:27:03 PM): yah the servers been up did you connect?

(In here is where he calls my roommate, and informs him that he can't connect to the server because the data differs. He apparently cracked it. My roommate then tells him to re-patch it to get the old executable back, or that he could simply file-send said executable. The phone conversation ends.)

Our Friend (10:07:59 PM): mucho problems
My Roommate (10:08:04 PM): yah?
Our Friend (10:08:09 PM): i cant unistall bfv
My Roommate (10:08:14 PM): you dont need to
Our Friend (10:08:33 PM): wont let me install it unless i do
My Roommate (10:08:38 PM): install what?
My Roommate (10:08:44 PM): you mean reinstall the patch?
Our Friend (10:08:57 PM): i need to reinstall the game now
My Roommate (10:08:59 PM): did you just replace the exe?
Our Friend (10:09:11 PM): i deleted the wholething
My Roommate (10:09:17 PM): what?
My Roommate (10:09:30 PM): you deleted the bfv directory?
My Roommate (10:10:15 PM): what exactly did you delete?
Our Friend (10:10:29 PM): eagames dir
My Roommate (10:10:34 PM): gaah
My Roommate (10:10:35 PM): alright
My Roommate (10:10:39 PM): and now the uninstaller wont work?
Our Friend (10:10:44 PM): nope
My Roommate (10:11:07 PM): 1 sec
My Roommate (10:13:48 PM): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{E35B3C63-E958-4E31-A178-95D22024109A}
My Roommate (10:13:52 PM): delete it
My Roommate (10:13:53 PM): should work
Our Friend (10:15:46 PM): i have to go out for a bit to help someone with their comp
Our Friend is away at 10:15:49 PM.

Suffice to say this just happened, so we don't really know if deleting the registry key will work or not, since we really don't have problems like this. =P

Hope you all got a good laugh out of this.

That's really it. It's a funny story. If you don't like it, or appreciate it, or didn't get it, then I'm sorry you wasted the entire minute and a half of your life it took you to read it. =P

Hi to you back, Meltdown. =P

I've been subjected to the bananaphone before by my roommate. I think it didn't occur to me at first because of the trauma . . . it got pushed deep into the depths of my subconscious . . . but it all came flooding back when he played it after he saw that post. Damn it all.

I'm sorry, quake, but you can't have your 45 seconds back. Sucks to be you.

And as far as you, oldsmoboat . . . Why did you name a law about stuff not being funny after yourself? Why did you name a law after yourself at all? Don't laws usually get named after people by other people? And furthermore, did it ever occur to you that may be easily misinterpreted if someone hadn't read that thread? =P

Now I wait . . .

Do you ever say to someone: "Smells like up dog in here" ... just so they'll say, "What's up dog?"

No, can't say that I have, however, that's fairly amusing. Can't say I wouldn't get stabbed/bludgeoned to death with a spork over saying that to anyone in real life, though. =P

I thought you were going to try on these lollerskates after that one.

How are sporks making out anyway? Don't hear much from them.

I think they're doing pretty well. I see them from time to time. My roommate just explained the lollerskates thing to me. Does anyone still know the link to the original flash animation (or whatever it is) of the roflcopters and the wtfbombs, etc., etc.?

Damien - that name reminds me of the movie "the Omen". I'm scared now and I think I will go pet my pet chicken until I feel ok.

You do that. Enjoy your chicken. I hope it makes you feel better. If it's any consolation I didn't get the name from the movie, but I'm sorry you've associated it with it. I have in fact seen the movie, though, after I found out the alias I'd been using for several years was, in fact, in a movie, a classic one I'd never seen no less. I can't say it was that good a movie, but its 'classic' status can't really be denied. It's kind of up there with the original Exorcist as far as 'classic' horror movies go, I'd have to say. Either way, I hope your chicken makes you feel better.
