Funny score on pcmark

1st in the BIOS it should be set @ Auto for IDE Devices and then under the Control Panel, ATA/ATAPIIDE Channel Properties, Advanced Settings

Oboy...DMA if available and I'm guessing you haven't downloaded the newer VIA Drivers and what type of HD doyou have abd would you by chance have an ATA33 cable on the HD when it's an ATA100?

its a Western Digital 20GB
Well that's a UDMA 100 5400RPM HD I believe so you would need the ATA 100 IDE cable to get maximum results with it...Do you have one in the the Rig as well?

AHh blah this i dunno guess im learing theres a cable that came w/ mobo not sure what it is. Im using a cable which has the 2 connectors on it so i can have 2 hdds. I guess it ata133 and than i have 2 cd roms not sure either. So your saying i maybe need th orginal cable that came with hdd which i got what christmas of 2000 ;-(

So this cable is killing my all computer PERFERMANCE? So i the cable i need is the one w/o any little lines on it.

YES DUDE your running @ ATA33 quite the performance hit from ATA100 !

your Western Digital 80GB SE 8MB Cache got 1001
my SG barracuda IV 40gb 2mb cache got 1096 under w98se (FAT32), though now gets around 900 with XP (NTFS) :/

otoh, your 256mb of samsung 2700 slaps my 512mb and 768mb of crucial 2100 ; 5100 vs 3260 marks

cpu wise my xp2400+ (2008mhz) gets >5800, versus your Intel Pentium 4 2270 MHz getting 5685.

(none of my benches done with any sort of "prepping", none clean install etc, other than defrag).

conclusion: irrelevant anyway since pcmark is a load of sh!t.

It sounds like you still don't have the right cable. In case you missed it, the correct one has 80 wires(instead of 40 for the regular cable), and one end is specially color coded to fit into the motherboard, and you must plug that one into the motherboard.
