Hi guys...Yes, you are probably thinking, "oh boy...another newbie has a problem setting up his RAID array..." Well, yes, I am, but trust me when I say that I have read everything I can possibly find about Win2k and RAID and I still can't diagnose the problem. You guys seems to be pretty helpful, so I thought I'd post the problem here.
OK, the install of Win2k (and also Win98SE) hangs when I try to install it on my 2x IBM Deskstar 60GXP 40GB HDs in RAID 0...they are connected to an EP-DR02P3 ATA/100 Raid pci controller card. The install gets to the formatting/checking drive/installing phase (it varies) and the locks up. Yes, I push F6 and install the drivers from the included disk. The disks seem to work OK in DOS too. I have tried running fdisk and format.com before thw Win2k install and just letting Win2k do that by itself, but it locks up just the same. It's not a bad CD, because I installed it on one of the hard drives when I connected it to my motherboard IDE channel...Needless to say, this is very frustrating...
ANY comments and/or suggestions would be GREATLY appreaciated...I didn't pay extra money for the extra HD and controller card so they could sit around and take up desk space...
Thanks in advance,
Craig
