FUNNY POWER SUPPLY ENDEAVOUR!!!! you gotta read this.........

I posted this here about 2 weeks ago, but I feel that everyone should get a chance to read this. When I ordered my FK-603 from DIRECTRON I had no idea what power supply I would get, and then lo and behold they give me a crappy DEER. I'm surprised its even on AMD's approved list. So when I first started up the system, the power supply started giving me weird a** noises, until I punched it....then the fan started working.......fast forward about a 1.5 months.......now this fan is CRAP, it pumps out no air....when I took it out I noticed that its a generic sleeve bearing fan, and spins SOOO slow that I can see the blades turning; it only pumps out about 5cfm...for and 80mm!!!! Also, the power supply "intake" vents are few in number, so even with a good fan you won't get too much airflow......
So I went ahead and bought a high output 80mm Sunon fan from 2COOLTEK with the notion of replacing the one in there. When I opened up the power supply, I just snipped and spliced the wires and connected the new fan to the fan header. When I started up the system, I found that the fan didn't work....hmmmm.....interesting.....so I give it a push and it starts spinning, but only at about 200rpms (BTW, I pretested this fan before installation to make sure it worked).
So after several tests, I concluded that the stupid DEER fan header won't provide more than about 1.6watts of power.....BOOOOO.....
Now here is the FUNNY part: while testing the fans, I had the wires exposed, so when I wanted to take the fan off of one of my 5.25" bays, it slipped and a wire hit the side of my metal case.....you know what happened next (EVERYTHING SHORTED OUT!)
But that's OK, because it didn't cause any damage except leaving a .5" round "battle scar" burn mark on my case as well as scaring the daylights out of me!!!!
So I ended up wiring the fan through the back of the power supply (through one of the intake cutouts) and connecting it to a 4-pin header.....
LESSON: don't EVER get a DEER unless its RIDICULOUSLY cheap!

Hey it's not THAT interesting!
You don't really need a PSU fan actually. My power fan pulls 47cfm out from behind my processor. My PSU fan won't pull more than 30cfm I am sure.

that is intresting........why would they only give 1.6w....and i will never buy a deer,
lots of people dont know about powersupplys so they can see not to always by the cheap one on sale

It probably wasn't designed that way.

The problem is probably a break in the circuit connecting the fan header to the 12 V line.

The most likely problem is a bad solder joint on the fan header - remaking it with a soldering iron should fix it.

no the twisted wires are NOT the problem, cause i tested the (wires cut and twisted) fan with a 4pin, and it worked fine.........

So, did you consider that this PS may be a thermostatic
controlled one like many high quality ones and may change fan output depending on temperature?

HAHAHAHAHAH... It probably is a thermally regulated PS...
Sorry man, 🙁 try heating it up with a blow dryer when running and see if the fan heats up...
