Believe it or not, Chinese people generally don't eat cats. As a matter of fact, we find cats to be base creatures...and we generally wouldn't even raise them as pets. Farmers do keep cats, but only for the purpose of killing other rodents/pests. Besides, cat is a very tough & bitter meat...not any good.
No...it's fairly cheap in China (Canton specifically). Well, dog meat at least (i'm talking out of the cities). Cat meat is hard to come by, b/c like I said...people don't like cats/won't eat cat meat. But dog isn't any more/less reasonable than like lamb or chicken...though you won't find it served in many restaurants (let's call it home cooking).
