So should he (under the impression that he was about to be jumped) have waited until he was physically contacted? There's a reason you don't go around scaring people, hoping for them to make the typical "OMG!" face and laughing. The point is that for him to do punch him as fast as he did, the move was purely reflex. I don't see what jail time or a massive fine for assault and battery charges will do to fix that, and if it does at what cost is it going to be?

Yeah he was about to be jumped. He looked real scared. Are you sreious or do you just want to argue. Maybe the fine would defray some of the medical costs of the kid in the trashcan.
