No a knee jerk action is to back away so you can analyze the situation. The guy needs to learn how to control himself or he was mad because the guy scared him and hit him.
Sometimes that is my first reaction. I used to teach martial arts, and when someone does that to me, a lot of times that's happening before I really realize it. It is only when someone jumps out at me, or tries to scare me. But I stop myself before the actual hit takes place. Though in that situation, who knows what would have happened.
What if that black guy had a heart situation or was scarred as a child from people jumping out of trash cans. That guy in the trash can is a major prick.

I punched a girl once in band class.. a stupid fat bitch girl.. but still a girl. I was sleeping while leaning my eye on my trombone while the band instructor was helping other sections. The girl, a clarinet player in front of me, decides she'll wake me up by punching the back of my head.. pushing my eye right into the mouthpiece. I insantly woke up and punched without even thinking about it.. Doh.
I didn't get in trouble though.. cause' I only hit her shoulder.

I felt a knee-jerked reaction would of been a back hand, while stepping back, ready to throw a punch. You're not going to take the time to cock one back, when you need an immediate reaction.
considering its obviously staged, the only people who are pricks are the ones turning this into something racial.

The person in the trashcan had it coming. Clearly the black person punched him in the face on reflex, which is why he didn't drag his ass out of there and continue beating him.
