Funny incident at Hess-Mart last

Notable Characters: Me, Wife, random dude

Scene: Hess Mart

Background: stopped at Hess to get gas

How it played out: Wife and I are out after work doing my normal after work stuff and realize car is running low on gas.
So I pull into the Hess mart to gas up, you know what they are like around 5 pm..Everyone is coming and going in a hurry, ie typical busy place.
So I pull up to a pump and swipe my card and start pumping my gas. Wife has her window down and we are talking.
So a random dude pulls up on the opposite side of the pump and also starts to fuel up.
Dude leans over and says hi to my wife and interupts my conversation.
I took this as a sign of disrespect, but didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
I told him that I was glad he felt the need to be friendly and say hi to my wife..then I handed him the moist towelette I used to wipe my hands..
So he leaves the gas pump and apparently he told a couple people inside the store that he wanted to fight me or something. I didn't think it was any big deal. I even waved to him before we left. later last night my wife told me he wanted to fight me. Hahahah.

Post gassing up thoughts: I was really surprised that the guy was telling people inside Hess that he wanted to throw down. I mean I used to get into fights my first couple years of driving but that would be when my buddies were already driving. To me, instigating fights is high school bs that doesn't involve any maturity.

The stats are as follows:
Me: 45 y/o, 5'10", 185lbs, year and a half of jogging and hiking, almost a year of gym membership, 100% in a hurry that night
Wife: 43 y/0, 5'2", 125lbs, 34C, runs a household like a pro (taught everything she knows by herself)
Dude: 30 y/o, 6'1", ~200lbs, dont have a clue who he was

BTW, I do pump my own gas for the economic aspect of it, not to fight random people at the pump.

Solution: Move to Oregon or New Jersey. You no longer have to pump your own gas and don't have to worry about random idiots wanting to fight you.

People really have nothing better to do than just pick random fights? Are reverse lobotomies possible yet?

BTW, I do pump my own gas too - I haven't seen a full-service gas station in at least 10 years, at least in this state.😛
I did, however, drive to Boston once a few years ago, and en route I filled up at a full service station. I got out of the car, but then someone came over and said it was full service. It was just kind of weird then; I wasn't used to it.

Obvious once I read "sign of disrespect".

But lefty, not even a huge assortment of Cheesepie will get out of showing pics like the OP in the original thread did! 😛
